President Paul Kagame on Wednesday, May 27, commissioned 436 officers into the Rwanda National Police (RNP) after they completed the Cadet Police Course at the Police Training School, Gishari in Rwamagana District.
The new officers who got the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police, include 109 women. Nine officers from Seychelles.
The passing-out ceremony, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of the RNP, featured a parade. The officers also demonstrated their tactical skills and readiness for service.
The ceremony was also attended by the families of the officers, senior government officials and security officers as well as police chiefs from allied countries.
The Commandant of the Police Training School in Gishari, Commissioner of Police (CP) Rafiki Mujiji, said the training that began in July 2025 focused on capacity building, professional conduct, and discipline. He expressed confidence that the graduates are well-prepared to effectively discharge their duties.
“We thank Your Excellency [the President] for the clear vision and continued support extended to the school by the country’s leadership. This support has enabled significant infrastructure improvements, enhancing the quality and modernity of training delivery,” he said.
Mujiji also acknowledged parents and families for their support in enabling the graduates to serve the country in this capacity.
He urged the new officers to uphold professionalism, courage, integrity, and discipline in their future assignments.
During the ceremony, four outstanding students were awarded for their excellent performance.
The best overall performer is Officer Cadet Castro Bowazi. The second best performer is Officer Cadet Isaïe Kayiranga. The third best performer is Officer Cadet Chantal Mureshya. The best performer from Seychelles is Officer Cadet Nicolette Marie.
